My Core Four

Hideki Matsuyama $10,600
DK Ownership 25%

Hideki has been on an incredible run since winning the Genesis. He followed up the win with a 12th place at the API and 6th at the PLAYERS.

He’s gained strokes on approach and off the tee in three straight tournaments. Over the last 24 rounds, Hideki is 1st in strokes gained around the green, 4th in strokes gained ball striking, 7th on approach, 4th in par five scoring and 12th in scrambling.

He’s played well at the Valero in the past. Last year he finished 15th shooting seven under. He also played here in 2021 and finished 30th. He started off shooting an opening round 67 but was over par in rounds two and three which kept him from any chance at a good finish.

Ludvig Aberg $10,500
DK Ownership 25%

Aberg played very well his last time out at the PLAYERS where he gained 12.3 strokes tee to green. His 8th place finish was his third top 10 finish in his last five tournaments. He’s finished top 25 in all of his tournaments over that span.

Aberg went to college at Texas Tech so he’s obviously comfortable with golf in Texas. TPC San Antonio looks to be a great fit for his game with how long and straight he hits the ball. He’s also gained strokes putting in all but one tournament this year.

Over the last 50 rounds he’s 1st in opportunities gained, 8th in par five scoring, 10th in strokes gained ball striking and 13th in driving distance.

Keith Mitchell $7,600
DK Ownership 13%

I was happy to fade Mitchell last week after his collapse at the Valspar but a missed cut and some time off could be exactly what he needed.

Mitchell has finished top 20 in five tournaments so far this year. Over the last 24 rounds he’s 1st on approach, 1st in opportunities gained and 6th in strokes gained off the tee. He’s also top 20 in driving distance, good drives gained and par five scoring.

Mitchell has two good performances at the Valero in the past. He finished 17th in 2021 and came 26th in 2018. He gained strokes off the tee and on approach in both appearances.

Lucas Glover $7,300
DK Ownership 14%

Glover has missed two cuts this year but otherwise has made all six cuts. He finished 11th most recently at the Valspar where he was a wizard around the greens.

He’s gained strokes on approach in seven of eight tournaments so far this year. He has a lot of what you’re looking for at TPC San Antonio. He’s 4th in strokes gained around the green, 11th on approach, 16th in good drives and top 25 in opportunities gained.

The statistical skillset has translated to the course as well. He’s made the cut in all of his appearances at the Valero outside of his debut in 2015. His best finish was a 4th place in 2019.

DK Ownership by Tier

$8k- Billy Horschel 16%
$7k- Aaron Rai 17%
$6k- Ryan Moore 16%
$5k- Nobody above 5%

Fades

Corey Conners $9,400

It’s scary to fade a guy who has been dominant at this tournament but those were in weaker fields. Add to the fact that he’ll be one of the higher owned golfers at an elevated price and I’m out. I’ll be playing a lot of the guys above him which doesn’t leave room for Conners. The four guys above him are better golfers at nearly a third of the ownership.
