Week 2 Draftkings Roster Construction

Overview

It’s Week 2 and there are a lot more options this week compared to last except when it comes to value plays. There’s some great stacking candidates and decisions to be made considering most the value will be chalk.. Ekeler won’t travel with the Chargers which likely makes Josh Kelley chalk at only $5k.

The Chiefs and Jaguars have the highest game total and it looks like Travis Kelce will play. It’s the best game environment for stacks but could be difficult considering the amount of options for both teams in the passing game.

The game with the 2nd highest total will likely be Seahawks/Lions. Montgomery could be one of the highest owned on the slate considering the Lions team total and his sub $6k salary.

Josh Allen and the Bills are in a smash spot and getting access to that offense should also be a priority.

Foundation– these are my core guys that I am building around. The players I’ll have the most exposure to.

QB

Josh Allen $7,900
DK Ownership 17%
Allen has one of the highest ceiling and floors at QB on the slate. His rushing provides that safe floor. They get to play Vegas who’s coming across the country to play in an early game. Buffalo has the highest implied team total on the slate and I expect them to come out and make a statement after Monday’s debacle. He’s going to be super chalk but I’m fine eating it and getting different elsewhere.

Justin Herbert $7,000
DK Ownership 6%

Herbert is always productive but the lack of TDs are what keep him from being an elite option. The reason for the lack of TDs is generally Austin Ekeler who won’t play in this game. Not only is Ekeler out but the Titans are much weaker against the pass. As a result Herbert should throw more especially when they get in close.

RB

Derrick Henry $7,400
DK Ownership 12%

In week 1, Henry had 17 touches and 110 total yards. That’s basically his floor. It looks like Hopkins will miss this game which will place an emphasis on Henry. He should see a few more dump offs and screens. The Chargers are also historically a weaker run defense.

James Cook $6,100
DK Ownership 16%

I really don’t see a scenario where the Bills don’t smash this week. I’m playing Allen and the only way he doesn’t get there is if the scoring comes through the running game. They showed last week that they have zero problem relying heavily on Cook. While his stat line didn’t look great against a stout Jets Defense, he had 12 carries, 6 targets and four receptions. He also forced 3 three missed tackles. While you may think that’s not a lot only Chubb had more with five and Jacobs was the only other player to have three.

Ken Walker $5,800
DK Ownership 14%

The concerns about Walker were that he’d split time with Charbonnet but that did not come to fruition in Week 1. Walker had 16 touches, four of which were receptions. Both of the Seahawks Tackles are injured which likely means they run more 12 personnel and rely on the run game more.

WR

Keenan Allen $7,100
DK Ownership 8%

Keenan had his usual role in week 1 with a 29% target share. That will likely increase without the possibility of checkdowns to Ekeler and should increase his redzone opportunities as well against a porous Titans secondary.

Mike Evans $6,200
DK Ownership 6%

Evans had 10 targets which was good for a 31% target share. Although it’s only one game, there looks to be a connection between him and Baker. The Bears allowed three TDs through the air last week.

Zay Flowers $5,000
DK Ownership

Last week’s stat line looks great for Zay with nine catches, 78 yards and a TD. That was 52% of Lamar’s completions and 46% of Lamar’s passing yards. Flowers seems like a perfect fit for this Todd Monken offense and should continue to see production. He played 84% of snaps right out of the gate as a rookie. Take advantage now before his price goes up.

TE

Sam LaPorta $3,900
DK Ownership 5%

LaPorta had five targets in his first game as a rookie. He also passed the eye test looking good as a receiver. Getting a cheap piece in a game with a 47.5 point total in a dome seems pretty enticing.

Dalton Kincaid $3,300
DK Ownership 8%

Kincaid played 80% of snaps on Monday which is a lot for a rookie but especially a rookie TE. He also saw 4 targets. I love him as a salary saver to pair with Allen.

Kitchen– these are the guys that EAT!!! Guys on the slate that have the most opportunities.
